Location: Gages Lake, IL.

Pre-K - 12 grade.

Salary:

• $45 to $52/hr.

Requirements:

• High School Diploma, or equivalent, required.
• Certificate of completion of an interpreter training program or Illinois Type 10 Certificate in DHH.
• EIPA/3.0 or higher.
• Ability to interpret/transliterate in classes for assigned hearing impaired students.
• Working knowledge of the Code of Ethics of the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf.

Job Description:

• Details of position/classroom type will differ based on school location.
• Recruitment Specialists can discuss in detail upon application to connect you to the classroom and best suits your experience and skillset.
• Contract through the school year – 37.5 to 40 hours per week.
• Contract follows the academic district calendar.

Essential Functions:

• To provide interpreting and transliterating services for hearing impaired students.
• Provide interpreting and transliterating services for assigned hearing impaired student.
• Uphold and enforce school rules, administration instructions and regulations, Board policy and state regulations.
• Assist in the evaluation, in conjunction with the student’s case manager, for the appropriate method of interpreting for hearing impaired students in mainstream classes.
• Assist in normal classroom routines and procedures by clarifying concepts, reviewing lessons assigned and actively guiding students in the completion of required work.
• Coordinate tutoring or follow-up sessions with students for additional instruction.
• Interpret at special activities (i.e. captioned films, assemblies, etc.).
• Perform other duties as assigned.
