Overview Montgomery College accepts applications for Adjunct/Part-time Faculty on a continuous basis. Applications may be reviewed periodically based on the student enrollment needs. The listing of a course in the schedule of classes as "TBA" does not constitute an assignment. The hiring decision for part-time faculty involves an academic judgment and shall be determined at Management's sole discretion. Job Description The Montgomery College, Rockville Campus, is currently accepting applications for possible openings as a part-time faculty member teaching Human Evolution and Archeology. We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated teacher who exhibits a high degree of professionalism, a strong commitment to our students, and demonstrates the ability to motivate and educate in an engaging manner. Duties and Responsibilities Availability and willingness to work in person on the Germantown campus Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12:30 to 1:45, and Thursday from 2:00 to 4:40 pm. Teach ANTH215 & 216 (Human Evolution and Archeology Lecture & Lab) on the Germantown campus In future semesters, other sociology courses may be taught at other campuses during day, evening, or weekend hours. Administer signature assignments given by all faculty and utilize other required course materials, including zero-cost materials when possible. Hold all classes as scheduled and respond promptly to student communication. Evaluate, grade, and return all student assignments and assessments in a timely manner. Adhere to all College policies as outlined in the faculty handbook, SEIU contract, policies and procedures, dean and chair memoranda, and other relevant documents. Required Qualifications Master\'s degree in Anthropology or a closely related discipline. Two years teaching experience, including teaching experience in biological anthropology and/or archeology. Lab or field experience in biological anthropology and/or archaeology. Successful candidates will have a demonstrated commitment to promoting belonging, inclusion, and multicultural competence in an educational and work environment and must be willing to contribute to the Colleges strategic plan of inclusion. Other Requirements Faculty members are expected to have access to a personal computer with virus protection that can connect to the internet outside of the work location (i.e., office, classroom, college campus). Montgomery College (MC) provides an MC e-mail account and access to the learning platform, password-protected faculty sections of the website, college listservs, and other faculty communications tools. If you do not have access to a personal computer, please notify the department chair at the time of interview. Subject to available funds, the college may be able to provide temporary access to resources. Must be eligible to work in the United States without a sponsor. Preferred Qualifications Ph.D. in anthropology or a closely related field. Experience teaching at the collegiate level. Experience teaching learners who are pursuing college credit while still in high school. For degrees earned outside of the U.S., a copy of your education equivalency, conducted by a nationally recognized evaluation service, must be included in your application.
