POSITION SUMMARY:Monday through Friday, no weekends. 1 hour for evaluations, 45 min follow up appointments, no double booking. Total of 8-9 patients/day.Under the direction of the Director of Physical Therapy, the Physical\nTherapist is responsible for the directing of physical therapy services.\nCoordinates and supervises operation of the department, administers physical\nagents prescribed by a referring physician. Maintains performance improvement\nactivities within the department and participates\nin continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities and assures competency\nof all personnel. Assists in the formulating budget, evaluations, department\nperformance versus budget and takes appropriate action to remain in budget\nguidelines. Develops and implements system of reviewing department charges,\nensures that patient charges are accurate and entered on a timely basis. The\nPhysical Therapist maintains efficient and effective department operations\nwhile requiring compliance with all state, federal and local regulatory laws,\nstandards and protocols. This\nposition description is intended to identify some of the duties and\nresponsibilities of this position. modoc\nmedical center reserves the right to modify, supplement, delete or\naugment the duties and responsibilities specified in this position description,\nat MODOC MEDICAL CENTERS sole and absolute discretion.POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:1.\nThree (3) or more years of previous experience\nin physical therapy preferred.2.\nCurrent California licensure or certification\nas a physical therapist.3.\nKnowledge of physical therapy modalities,\nanatomy and physiology.4.\nKnowledge of disease processes and related causative\nfactors.5.\nKnowledge of benefits/ values of rehabilitative\nmedicine and physical therapy agents.6.\nKnowledge of infection control, sterile\ntechniques and related impact on rehabilitative medicine practice and\nequipment.7.\nCurrent BCLS certification.8.\nAbility to work with others, at all levels\nwithin the organization, and collaborate effectively.9.\nAbove -average interpersonal, problem-solving,\nand written and oral communication skills.10. This includes neonate, pediatric, adolescent,\n geriatric patients and the general patient population. \n13.\nAble to assess patient pain interfering with\n optimal level of function or participation in rehabilitation and makes\n appropriate physician contact for intervention. \n14.\nPerforms all aspects of patient care in an\n environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of\n medical/ health care errors.\n15.\nFormulates a teaching plan based upon\n identified learning needs and evaluations effectiveness of learning, family\n is included in teaching as appropriate. \n16.\nTreats patients and their families with\n respect and dignity. Identifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic\n and religious/ spiritual needs of patients and their families. Functions as\n liaison between administration, patients, physicians, and other healthcare\n providers.\n17.\nManages and operates equipment safely and\n correctly. Maintains department cleanliness and safety. Complies with ongoing\n departmental inspections of equipment and physical space, makes\n recommendations regarding equipment utilization and needs.\n18.\nInteracts professionally with patient/ family\n and involves patient/ family in the formation of a plan of care.\n19.\nCommunicates appropriately and clearly to\n physicians, staff and administrative team. \n20.\nCoordinates and directs patient care to\n ensure patients needs are met and hospital policy is followed. \n\n\n\n\n21. Other duties as\n assigned.\n\n\nSpecific\nCompetencies:\n\n\n1.\n Demonstrates an ability to be flexible,\n organized and function under stressful situations.\n\n\n\n\n2.\n Consults other departments as appropriate to\n collaborate in patient care and performance improvement activities.\n\n\n\n\n3.\n Documentation meets current standards and\n policies. \n\n\n\n\n4.\n Trains personnel utilizing on-the-job\n training for nursing and other hospital staff, as well as departmental staff.\n \n\n\n\n\n5.\n Studies current trends and developments in\n rehabilitative medicine through current literature and professional society. \n\n\n\n\n6.\n Maintains standards of professional society\n procedures and ethical behavior.\n7.\n Able to communicate effectively in English,\n both verbally and in writing.\n8.\n Additional languages preferred.\n9.\n Strong written and verbal skills.\n10. Basic\n computer knowledge.\n11. Knowledge of\n physical therapy machine operation, maintenance and repairs of same. \n12. Ability to\n maintain control and respond calmly and positively during crisis situations\n (i.e. Code Blue) \n13. Appropriate\n telephone communication skills.\n\n\nProfessional\nRequirements:1.\nAdheres to dress code; appearance is neat and\nprofessional.2.\nCompletes annual education requirements, if\napplicable.3.\nMaintains regulatory requirements.4.\nMaintains and ensures patient confidentiality\nat all times.5.\nWears identification badge while on duty.6.\nAttends annual evaluation and participates\nactively in this process.7.\nReports to work on time and as scheduled;\ncompletes work in designated time.8.\nAttends all meetings as appropriate.9.\nExhibits the mission, ethics and goals of Modoc\nMedical Center in the performance of job duties. 10.\nWorks at maintaining a good rapport and a\ncooperative working relationship with physicians, departments and staff. 11.\nRepresents the organization in a positive and\nprofessional manner.12.\nAttends committee, CQI and management meetings,\nas appropriate. 13.\nResolves personnel concerns at the departmental\nlevel, utilizing the grievances process as required.14.\nEnsures compliance with policies and procedures\nregarding department operations, fire, and safety and infection control. \n15.\nComplies with all organizational policies\nregarding ethical business practices.
