How Youll Make An Impact

The Platform Engineering organization is seeking an experienced engineering Director to lead Cloud Engineering and further its mission to enable effortless innovation of the software that drives SiriusXM. Platform Engineering owns the AWS environment and the internal development platform upon which SiriusXM technologists build, deploy, and operate software. We provide the foundational infrastructure, tooling, libraries, guiding patterns, and support that allows our technologists to focus more on delivering value to our listeners and less on infrastructure and other software development complexities. The Director of Cloud Engineering will be responsible for the overall company-wide cloud strategy and account footprint, infrastructure as code libraries and reference implementations, cloud spend tooling, and cloud architecture advice and support. This role will drive execution of their teams priorities, identify future projects and opportunities, and help coach and develop the managers and individual contributors reporting to them. What Youll Do

Product Leadership and Strategy:

• Report to the Vice President of Platform Engineering and participate in cross-team leadership activities within the wider Platform Engineering organization.
• Manage and mentor leaders and individual contributors across three engineering teams.
• Contribute to the long-term strategy and vision of Platform Engineering and the SiriusXM technology strategy.
• Build strong relationships with the companys internal developers and their leaders in order to better understand their strengths, needs, and pain points.
• Partner with Platform Engineerings Product Management team to inform your teams roadmaps.
• Inspire and empower your teams in executing against an ambitious product and technical roadmap.
• Provide detailed, constructive feedback to peers and direct reports through reviews of product development artifacts such as product briefs, technical designs, and ADRs
• Stay on the cutting edge of industry trends to identify new technologies and practices that could contribute to more effective cloud usage at SiriusXM.
• Balance the priorities of a diverse set of stakeholders including developers, Security, Operations, Data Scientists, and Finance.

What Youll Need

• 10+ years of experience as a Software Engineer or similar role, including at least 5 years in a management role
• 7+ years of hands on experience architecting and deploying cloud-native applications on a public cloud provider (AWS strongly preferred)
• Strong understanding of cloud computing and execution of cloud initiatives in a large distributed organization
• Extensive experience with infrastructure as code (IaC)
• Knowledge of foundational infrastructure concepts (e.g. IP networking, identity and access management, VPNs, DNS, firewalling, and load balancing)
• Experience supporting development, operations, and security teams, including the ability to provide ongoing architecture and implementation support
• Ability to work through ambiguity and deliver clarity
• Passion for working with internal customers
• Fluency in at least two programming language

Experience building an internal developer platform

Experience with AWS Cloud Development Kit (CDK)

AWS Solution Architect Professional Certification

Fluency in TypeScript/Node.js

At SiriusXM, we carefully consider a wide range of factors when determining compensation, including your background and experience. These considerations can cause your compensation to vary. We expect the base salary for this position to be in the range of $153,500 to $280,000 and will depend on your skills, qualifications, and experience. Additionally, this role might be eligible for discretionary short-term and long-term incentives. We encourage all interested candidates to apply.
