Join to apply for the Clinical Scribe role at Midwest Vision Partners As an Ophthalmic Scribe you will work alongside a physician dictating into the patient’s chart and assist with minor in-office procedures. Schedule: Monday to Friday 8:00 am – 4:30 pm. Possibly the second Saturday of the month for a few hours. Responsibilities Bring patients to and from exam rooms. Perform detailed documentation of patient work-ups and ophthalmic comments in the electronic medical record. Complete patient encounter forms based on diagnosis. Apply drops to anesthetize, dilate, or medicate eyes. Provide chair-side physician assistance and administer treatment as allowed and ordered by the physician. Review care instructions with patients. Complete a detailed patient history including past medical history, family medical history, and chief complaint. Check visual acuity (far, near, peripheral vision, depth perception, color perception). Examine eyes for abnormalities. Perform other tests and measurements (A-scans, B-scans, fundus photography, corneal topography, HRTII, pachymetry). Measure intraocular pressure (glaucoma test). Read patient’s eyeglass prescription with automated lensometry. Prepare exam rooms for treatment. Maintain patient confidentiality following HIPAA regulations. Demonstrate basic knowledge of eye anatomy, disease, symptoms, and ocular medications. Stay current with the latest technologies and medications and answer general patient questions. Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED equivalent. Valid driver’s license and ability to drive a motor vehicle. Efficient computer skills and ability to type 40+ words per minute. Desired Qualifications Experience working as a Medical Scribe. Electronic Medical Records (EMR) experience. Knowledge of medical terminology.
